Tonight represents a full-circle moment in television history as Amy Poehler returns to host Saturday Night Live on the very evening the show celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The former 'SNL' cast member herself returned to the Studio 8H stage as the second official host of season 51, following last week's premiere episode led by Bad Bunny.

The veteran cast member is the perfect host to get the season back on track with an episode full of throwback sketches and fun cameos.

Fortunately, Amy Poehler understood the assignment. While Poehler can snark with the best of them, she always radiates a palpable compassion.
