President of baseball operations Buster Posey dismissed Melvin about 18 hours after the frustrating 2025 season ended, saying it was time for a new voice.

Manager Bob Melvin was fired Monday by the San Francisco Giants after the club missed the playoffs for a fourth straight season.

"After careful evaluation, we determined that making a change in leadership was in the best interest of the team," Posey said, per Nightengale.
