Travelers who are headed to airports and hoping to use their Costco membership cards in place of Real IDs are out of luck. Travelers need a Real ID — or other acceptable form of identification — for domestic flights and for accessing federal facilities as of May 7.

Your Costco card grants you access to a lot of deals and discounts, but don't expect it to help when going through TSA at the airport.

The T.S.A. is reminding travelers that Costco cards are not on their own going to get you through security. “Can’t fly on hot dogs and hope,” the agency said.
