There are reports of multiple people being swept away by flooding in Virginia as tens of millions of people are at risk of dangerous flash floods in pockets of nearly every region of the contiguous United States Friday,
A system that landed in Louisiana Thursday currently does not have any chance of forming, but it will still bring more heavy rains and potential flooding to southern Louisiana Friday and Saturday. The region remains under a flood watch after much of the New Orleans area was left unscathed Thursday.
A zone from the central Plains to parts of the Mississippi and Ohio Valley to the Appalachians will be in the crosshairs of repeated downpours and the likelihood of flash flooding into next week, weather forecasters say.
