The candidates are rookie Tyler Shough and holdovers Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler. Meeting with reporters on Saturday, coach Kellen Moore was asked whether he views Shough as the starting quarterback.

Haener's lone start in Week 15 against the Washington Commanders was a disaster, to the point he got benched at halftime in favor of Rattler. The 26-year-old went 4-of-10 with 49 yards, no touchdowns and one interception prior to being replaced.

After Derek Carr's sudden retirement, the New Orleans Saints are left with three quarterbacks on their active roster. And according to new head coach Kellen Moore, they will each get a chance to compete for the starting role in Carr's absence.
