Former Liverpool and Wales soccer hero Joey Jones has died. He was 70. Jones won two European Cups for Liverpool and was also dubbed “Mr Wrexham”.

Joey Jones was a cult hero for a generation of football fans. Supporters of Wrexham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Wales will mourn the death, aged 70, of a colourful personality who epitomised “playing for the jersey” for every club he represented, his natural enthusiasm carrying him to the summit of European football.

Former Wales, Liverpool and Wrexham defender Joey Jones has died aged 70. The left-back, who won 72 caps for his country, had three spells with Wrexham in addition to stints with Liverpool, Chelsea and Huddersfield Town.
