Firefighters found a man dead inside a burning northeast Minneapolis duplex late Wednesday night.

In Ward 5, which includes the Harrison, Hawthorne, Jordan, Near North and Willard-Hay neighborhoods in north Minneapolis, six candidates have jumped into the race to replace outgoing Council Member Jeremiah Ellison, who has been part of the council’s more progressive wing.

One person is dead and three others have been displaced from their home after a fire overnight in northeast Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Fire Department says it was first alerted of the fire at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday.

The order says Hamoudi Sabri, who owns a commercial parking lot off of East Lake Street as well as others in the Twin Cities, cannot allow a homeless encampment on any of his properties in Minneapolis.

Tsai was stabbed in death by Lewis in her Minneapolis apartment in June of 2024. Lewis then crashed the car she was driving on I-90 near Eyota with Tsai’s body in the backseat. At the time of her death, Tsai was an aspiring DJ in the Minneapolis area.

According to police, it is believed there was a fight before the shooting, and a possible suspect is believed to have run from the area.

A 30-year-old woman who was among those shot at a homeless encampment in Minneapolis on Monday has died of her injuries, according to authorities.

Milkweed, a coffee shop on Lake Street in Minneapolis, has announced that it will close in October. "Our time in this space has been so full of joy and friends and delicious healing food and beverages," reads a Facebook post signed by owners Brenda Ingersoll and Alex Needham on Tuesday.
