The fire is under investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigations. A veteran firefighter with the South Trail Fire Protection & Rescue Service District has been confirmed as the victim in the fatal house fire in San Carlos Park Wednesday, May 21.

SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. — The San Carlos Fire Department says one person has died following a house fire on Wednesday morning. Just before noon, residents say they were jolted by a thunderous boom that shook homes. Fort Myers Community Correspondent Anvar Ruziev was live on the scene:

One person is dead after a structure fire in a San Carlos Park neighborhood. On Wednesday, the San Carlos Park Fire Department and multiple other units were dispatched at 11:21 a.m. to a structure fire on Caloosa Trace Circle. They were able to put out the fire, but it has been confirmed that one person died due to it.
