On the same day Nintendo revealed the Switch 2, President Donald Trump also unveiled his list of tariffs on countries the U.S. trades with. This led Nintendo to delay preorders in the U.S., although it did make them available a short time later.

Nintendo expects to sell 15 million units of its new Switch 2 gaming console by March 2026, when the company's financial year ends, according to its first sales forecast for the long-awaited new gaming generation.

Japanese video-game maker Nintendo has reported a 43% decline in profit for the fiscal year through March, but promised a turnaround as its Switch console upgrade goes on sale in June.
