The only previous visit to Charlotte for Notre Dame football came in the ACC Championship game in December of 2020, a 34-10 loss to Clemson.

Notre Dame and Wake Forest are scheduled to play in the 2027 season as part of the ACC schedule for the Irish, but the game will now have a unique aspect to it. The Fighting Irish and Demon Deacons will play that game as part of the Duke's Mayo Classic.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Notre Dame will face Wake Forest in the 2027 Duke’s Mayo Classic, played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2027. The game is part of Notre Dame’s existing scheduling agreement with the Atlantic Coast Conference and will be played as a neutral-site contest.
