A study released this week compared speeches from the presidential contenders to find the reading level of their addresses. It found that Trump speaks at a level just below sixth grade.

Results revealed that the majority of Trump's speeches in 2024 fell between a 5th and 6th-grade reading level. His more recent speeches reached as high as 8th grade level.

So when a 6th grade listener named Lucy wrote into How To! looking for help with an important speech, she mentioned she too hoped to someday share the TED stage.

"Amongst the candidates, levels are between sixth and seventh grades except for Donald Trump (grade 5.7)." A summary of the study put this result in another light.
