The Dolphins are switching to rookie quarterback Quinn Ewers as they host the Cincinnati Bengals for a Week 16 matchup at Hard Rock Stadium
The 22-year-old rookie was officially named the starting quarterback ahead of Tua Tagovailoa on Wednesday afternoon.
The Miami Dolphins named rookie Quinn Ewers, their seventh-round pick, as their starting quarterback against the Cincinnati Bengals amid Tua Tagovailoa’s struggles this season.
Ewers was the final quarterback selected in last year’s NFL Draft despite entering the season projected as a top draft pick.
With a start against Cincinnati, Ewers will become the first former Texas quarterback to start a game since Sam Ehlinger for the Indianapolis Colts at the end of the 2022 season on Jan. 8, 2023.
Tua Tagovailoa has finally been benched. But backup Zach Wilson wasn't picked as his replacement. And the ex-Jets quarterback isn't thrilled about it.
