The House GOP narrowly passed its massive tax and spending cuts package ahead of its Memorial Day deadline, sending President Donald Trump’s “one big, beautiful bill” over to the Senate, where it will likely face many changes.
If the House provision is enacted, the SALT cap would rise to $40,000, up from $30,000 in the previous plan, and phase out over $500,000.
House Republican leaders released a new version of President Donald Trump’s massive tax and spending bill with a higher limit on the deduction for state and local taxes and other changes in a bid to win over warring GOP factions to support the legislation.
New York City-area Republican members of Congress were able to include a huge increase in property tax deductions in the so-called "big, beautiful bill" passed on Thursday.
The bill is expected to undergo more changes when it goes to the Senate for final passage. FOX 5 NY's Morgan McKay has more.
