Another cold morning with areas of patchy fog and frost followed by another sunny and pleasant afternoon, but rain and snow are expected to arrive on Friday and continue through the weekend.

The first significant storm of the season brought snow and downpours to Southern California that doused wildfires and caused some ash and mud to flow across streets in the Los Angeles area on Monday.

A nearly four week stretch of dry winter weather in Northern California will come to an end this Friday. Several storm systems will tap into moisture from atmospheric rivers and bring rain and snow chances to parts of the region through at least early next week.
