"Good Trouble Lives On" is a national day of action to respond to the attacks on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration," the website states.

Titled "Good Trouble Lives On," organizers said the rallies will take place all over the country on National John Lewis Day of Action. According to organizers, the rallies are also in honor of the legacy of the late Congressman, who often called on his supporters to make "good trouble, necessary trouble."

The protests are taking place on the fifth anniversary of the death of civil rights icon John Lewis. The former congressman coined the phrase "good trouble" to describe peaceful protests challenging civil rights infringements, and organizers say the upcoming demonstrations will carry on this legacy.

The North Carolina Democratic Party is holding a "Good Trouble Rally and Protest" on Thursday evening in downtown Raleigh. The demonstration aims to protest House Bill 958, which would prohibit state and county election officials from publicly encouraging voter turnout.

Protests are planned across the nation on Thursday, the anniversary of civil rights icon and Congressman John Lewis’ death. Lewis famously coined the term “good trouble” to describe nonviolent civil disobedience that challenges unjust systems.

“Good Trouble” rallies are coming to Boston and other Massachusetts cities on Thursday, July 17, in protest of the Trump administration, according to the Indivisible Mass Coalition.

Residents included Oklahoma City in a nationwide anti-Trump protest effort, which honors the death of civil rights activist John Lewis.

One protestor, Jim Clark, said he's been attending rallies since the beginning of the year. He said he attended Thursday in response to the defunding of the USAID and the resulting food waste, and funding cuts to public media like NPR. Clark said he protests for the sake of his children and grandchildren.
