A movie about Kobe Bryant ’s wild NBA Draft Day story is officially in development. Warner Bros. Pictures has picked up a spec script from writers Alex Sohn and Gavin Johannsen , and the story will dive into the behind-the-scenes drama that eventually landed Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The dramatic manner in which Kobe Bryant spurned the Nets in the 1996 NBA Draft and ended up with the Lakers is set to hit the big screen. The movie, tentatively titled “With the 8th Pick?” was acquired by Warner Bros. and comes from screenwriters Alex Sohn and Gavin Johannsen.

Warner Bros. Pictures has acquired a spec script based on the dramatic true story of NBA legend Kobe Bryant joining the Los Angeles Lakers, Variety has confirmed.
