The Lions lost offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, now head coach of the Chicago Bears, and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, the next New York Jets coach, and will spend the first part of the 2025 offseason looking for replacements.

With Aaron Glenn off to coach the New York Jets, Dan Campbell will be tasked with finding a new defensive coordinator for the first time in his tenure. While there are several intriguing candidates internally, headlined by linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard, the Lions could look externally as well.

Sheppard always seemed like the favorite for the job. Now, the 37-year-old takes over for Glenn as defensive coordinator, per NFL Network.

Ben Johnson is taking another Detroit Lions coach with him to the Chicago Bears. According to his updated Instagram account, Lions assistant quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett is taking a job as the new Bears quarterback coach.

Ben Johnson left the Detroit Lions for the Chicago Bears head coaching job and there was concern that he would take a bunch of the Lions coaches with him. So far he's taken Antwaan Randle El with him and now he's bringing another guy.
