The Washington Nationals, fresh off firing top executive Mike Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez, will make the No. 1 selection for the third time in franchise history. (Their track record from that spot is pristine: they chose eventual ace Stephen Strasburg in 2009 and superstar outfielder Bryce Harper in 2010.
Baseball America released its latest MLB mock draft (subscription required), and the author, Carlos Collazo, has the Rangers taking Oklahoma pitcher Kyson Witherspoon. Collazo notes potential targets such as JoJo Parker, Billy Carlson, and Ike Irish, but he has them going a few picks ahead of Texas. Parker would be the favorite if available.
