Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche, and Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning were announced Wednesday morning as the finalists for the NHL’s Ted Lindsay Award, awarded annually “the most outstanding player as voted on by fellow members of the NHLPA.

Nikita Kucherov, Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar were named finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award on Wednesday. The award is given annually to the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by fellow members of the NHL Players' Association. The winner will be announced at a later date.

MacKinnon will be aiming to become the first player to win the Ted Lindsay Award in consecutive seasons since Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid accomplished the feat in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Meanwhile, Kucherov led the league in points (121) during the regular season for the second consecutive campaign.
