Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (illness) is out of the starting lineup for the second straight day due to an illness in the second game of the series on Tuesday against the visiting Texas Rangers.
Perez (illness) will start at catcher and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Rangers. Perez missed each of the previous two contests with an illness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go Wednesday. The Royals will be going for their sixth straight victory and eighth win over their last nine contests.
Cal Raleigh autographed a toilet seat for one fan, along with the scores of baseballs and other paraphernalia “The Big Dumper” signed for shrieking Little Leaguers. Raleigh gave the kids a real treat hours later.
Salvador Perez popped out of the visitors’ dugout at Fenway Park on Tuesday afternoon and within a few minutes was in the middle of a crowd of Red Sox players and coaches. Alex Cora chatted with Kansas City’s catcher for almost 10 minutes. Red Sox game planning coach Jason Varitek gave Perez a hug, as did Trevor Story and several other players.
