When José Buttó learned during Wednesday’s game that he was being traded, the reliever seemed to choke back tears as he said his goodbyes in the Mets’ bullpen and dugout.

The Giants have fallen out of the division race and the team is ready to sell at the trade deadline, offering up former MVP Justin Verlander.

To beef up their bullpen, the Yankees are acquiring Giants reliever Camilo Doval just shortly before the 6 p.m. deadline. Catcher Jesús Rodríguez, right-handed pitcher Trystan Vrieling, infielder Parks Harber and lefty Carlos de la Rosa are all headed to San Francisco.
