White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt believes Sanders might have slipped even further in the draft if not for a social media post by President Donald Trump. On Friday, Trump posted on Truth Social that Shedeur Sanders was set for “greatness” and should be “picked immediately by a team that wants to win.”

Trump took to his Truth Social media platform on Friday after Sanders, who some mock drafts forecast to be selected as high as the No. 2 overall pick, was not taken two days into the 2025 NFL Draft.
