Typhoon Kajiki made landfall in Vietnam on Monday, unleashing dangerous winds as the powerful storm surged through the country’s central provinces – prompting authorities to evacuate tens of thousands of residents.

Vietnam has evacuated hundreds of thousands and closed schools and airports as Typhoon Kajiki, its strongest storm so far this year, nears landfall.

Vietnam's central belt was lashed by Typhoon Kajiki on Monday, with at least one person killed by deluges and gales howling more than 130 kilometers per hour, as tens of thousands of residents were evacuated from the path of the tempest.
