Prime Minister Keir Starmer says the U.K. will recognize a Palestinian state in September – unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza and takes steps to long-term peace.

As a result, it said, the UK would “recognise the state of Palestine in September before [the UN General Assembly] unless the Israeli government takes substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza and commits to a long term sustainable peace”.
