Waymo is sending autonomous vehicles to 10 new cities in 2025, starting with Las Vegas and San Diego, the company shared exclusively with The Verge. The vehicles will be manually driven, and the testing operations are not necessarily a precursor to the launch of a commercial robotaxi service.

Waymo, the self-driving division of Google parent Alphabet, announced Wednesday it plans to bring its autonomous taxis in San Diego this year.

In November, the San Diego metropolitan area’s home price increased 4.45% annually, said the S&P Case-Shiller Indices report released Tuesday. The highest gains in the 20-city index were in the New York metro area, at 7.32%, and Chicago, at 6.21%.

The information-gathering visit is not a precursor to launching self-driving taxi service, a company spokesperson said.

San Diegans may see soon see Waymo’s driverless cars on local streets soon. The vehicles, owned by the autonomous-vehicle taxi company, won’t be picking up passengers yet, however. Instead, the company tweeted out,
