The X account for "Sesame Street's" Elmo was hacked over the weekend, spewing a series of antisemitic, racist and anti-President Trump posts. The big picture: The hacked account is just the latest in a series of troublesome events for the social media platform.

“Elmo’s X account was briefly compromised yesterday by an unknown hacker who posted disgusting messages, including antisemitic and racist posts. The account has since been secured,” a spokesperson for Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit company behind the long-running children’s series, said.

Sesame Workshop confirmed that Elmo’s social media was "briefly hacked by an outside party" even though there were already security measures in place.
