Preseason football is upon us, and for most NFL teams, that means rookies and players on the roster bubble get the majority of the snaps, with starters sitting ... but not in Kansas City. Head coach Andy Reid stated that the plan for the Chiefs' preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals was to have Patrick Mahomes play the first quarter,

Defensively, the Chiefs held Arizona to a field goal on the second possession of starting quarterback Kyler Murray, but they couldn’t prevent the Cardinals’ reserves, led by Murray’s replacement Jacoby Brissett, from taking a 17-14 halftime lead.
