A woman who was found dead after she went paddleboarding on a lake in Maine was murdered, officials said Monday, and police are still searching for her killer. Sunshine Stewart, 48, was found dead at Crawford Pond in Union on Thursday after police were contacted to say she had gone missing, Maine State Police said.
Maine State Police provided an update Wednesday as they continue to investigate after a missing paddleboarder was found murdered last week.
The body of 48-year-old Sunshine "Sunny" Stewart of Tenants Harbor was found on July 3. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Sunshine Stewart, 48, was found dead during a search last Thursday on Crawford Pond in the town of Union, Maine State Police said.
Maine State Police are searching for the person who killed a woman who was reported missing while paddleboarding. Sunshine Stewart was found dead last week at a lake in Union. Authorities have not yet said how she died, but did rule her death a homicide. They said she may have been paddleboarding in Crawford's Pond the night of July 2.

Sunshine Stewart, 48, was last seen going out on Crawford Pond in Union, Maine, between 6pm and 9pm on July 2. Around 1am the next day, Maine Game Wardens joined sheriff’s deputies and fire department officials in searching for Stewart.
The man was sharing a paddleboard with his two children when a large wind gust knocked them into the reservoir Monday afternoon, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Authorities found Sunshine "Sunny" Stewart dead in "unusual circumstances" after the women’s rights advocate had been reported missing the day previous.
