SiouxlandProud.com on MSNMonday evening storm system brings more widespread large hail and wind damage to SiouxlandThere were a lot of minor severe reports, but there were some reports of some damage in parts of the area, particularly in areas in Nebraska toward Laurel and Thurston, as well as in parts of Iowa closer to Pierson and Cherokee areas.
Shepherd was hammered by Monday's storms, with white pools of hail covering the ground all through the area. A wide area of town saw downed trees, shingles blown off roofs, and siding torn from houses. Immense amounts of hail were reported in the region.
HUNTLEY — There was a little less action Tuesday at Pryor Creek Golf Club after Monday evening’s nasty storm. There are trees at the north end of the driving range uprooted and laying on the net that protects golfers on the Elmer Link Course’s No. 9 tee.
Hail and wind are the main storm threats with an evening to late night round of storms Tuesday into Wednesday AM. This brings a couple days of heat relief but by Friday highs are back to the 90s and this will kick off a 3 day stretch of Alert Days for intense heat with heat index values of 100-115 degrees.
High humidity will be in place over the coming days, and that will fuel a few rounds of strong and severe storms through Tuesday.
