The Nashville office of the National Weather Service upgraded the winter storm watch to a warning ahead of expected snow and ice this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for central Ohio counties as the region is expected to see between 6 and 12 inches of snow.

There's more than a 50% chance Nashville will be significantly impacted by ice, making travel extremely dangerous.

A massive winter storm blasted the tri-state area with up to 18 inches of snow, ice, and freezing rain, paralyzing transit and crippling air travel across the country. Now the clean-up begins. Check the latest totals from the National Weather Service using this map.

“Dangerous cold comes this week with several nights featuring single digit temperatures and wind chills below zero,” the National Weather Service said early Monday. “It’s quite rare to get a stretch of temperatures this cold for so long. Take precautions if headed out.”

“It will be after 7 or 8 p.m. when things start to trend over to frozen precipitation, and definitely after midnight is when it should be solidly freezing rain,” National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Willis said Saturday from his office in Peachtree City.
