India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7. It came in response to the deadly attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam that killed 26 people on April 22.

The sources said that India's position after May 7 strikes on terror infrastructure in PoK and other areas was that if Pakistan fires, India will also fire.

At least 11 airbases in Pakistan were hit by the Indian forces. Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi earlier said the precision targeting was done to minimise any collateral damage, reiterating India's commitment to not wanting to escalate the situation.
