Nicolas Cage is deep in talks to star in True Detective season 5 — the next iteration of the moody crime drama. The Oscar winner is up for an as-yet-unknown role in the anthology drama, but will presumably play the law enforcement officer at the center of another mystery thriller.

HBO’s hit crime series “True Detective” is reportedly eyeing Nicolas Cage to star in Season 5, and the action would be in New York.

Cage is in talks to star in the fifth season of “True Detective” for HBO, a source told IndieWire. This season is said to be set in the Jamaica Bay area of New York City, and showrunner and writer Issa Lopez, who took over for creator Nic Pizzolatto for the fourth season, “Night Country,” is back. Any other plot details are still under wraps.
