A former California Highway Patrol officer is suspected of killing his wife in Southern California before he died in a shooting that left one other man dead in mid-July, officials said.

How Gonzalez died was not disclosed by police. Police identified the suspect as Gonzalez’s husband, Miguel Lopez, 35, who they say was seen leaving the home early Thursday.
