School officials are raising alarms over a dangerous social media trend that puts students at risk of causing fire and smoke hazards by deliberately damaging their school-issued Chromebooks.

The challenge has cropped up in schools nationwide and already resulted in arson charges against a 15-year-old in New Jersey.
