Deere reports fiscal third-quarter earnings per share of $4.75 from equipment sales of $10.4 billion, beating analysts’ estimates on both metrics.

At present, analysts predict that Deere will report earnings of $4.59 per share on revenues of $10.33 billion. This would represent a decline compared to the same quarter last year, when the company posted earnings of $6.29 per share on revenues of $11.39 billion.

Deere shares have been prone to swings following quarterly results, moving an average of about 5% after each of the past four reports. Options trading ahead of Thursday’s release implied a similar move, and historically, the stock has risen three times and fallen once after earnings.
