The officer who was injured in the shooting on Emory University's campus in Atlanta is dead, Interim Chief Greg Padrick of DeKalb County Police Department said. He died of his injuries from a gunshot wound, Padrick said.

Officer David Rose, 33, was shot and rushed to Emory University Hospital. He was later pronounced dead. The suspected shooter, who the GBI has identified as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White, was also killed in the incident. Rose was responding to the threat of an active shooter at Clifton Road and CDC Parkway when he was fatally wounded.

While investigators have not confirmed a motive, law enforcement sources told CNN that White may have targeted the CDC due to health concerns he linked to the Covid-19 vaccine. They said the suspect had been seeking mental health assistance in the weeks before the attack but had made no known threats.
