Shark Week 2025: How to watch 'How to Survive a Shark Attack' and more of the annual summer series
Have you noticed the sharks are late this year? Shark Week 2025 finally splashed onto our screens this past Sunday, just in time for the hottest days of the year — the perfect time to sit inside with the AC blasting while you watch hours of new shark content every night, or go take a dip in the water yourself (if you’re brave enough).
In its 37th year, Shark Week is the Discovery Channel's annual weeklong slate of shark-related programming. This year's event kicked off Sunday, July 20, with "Dancing With Sharks," an inter-species dance competition hosted by returning "Dancing With the Stars" frontman Tom Bergeron.
Now a bonanza of viewership, the 37-year-old event that launched as a meager presentation of 10 basic programs and has also courted detractors over the years.

Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week” kicks off with a unique twist this year: “Dancing with Sharks.” Hosted by former “Dancing With the Stars” host Tom Bergeron, the show features scuba-diving shark handlers performing underwater dances with hammerhead sharks.
Tom Bergeron talks hosting Shark Week's "Dancing With Sharks" and the "sad" trophy. "That's the same reaction I had with the 'DWTS' trophy."
