Shelby County Commissioner Edmund Ford Jr. was indicted last week on one count of alleged bribery and kickbacks and six counts of attempted tax evasion. The federal indictment filed Thursday, Feb. 27, reveals businesses tied to Ford deposited more than $250,000 into bank accounts from various nonprofits from 2017 to 2021.

The Commercial Appeal used meeting records and court documents to determine the local organizations which were unnamed in the federal indictment.
