Over 120 said wounded as Hezbollah supporters attempt to breach roadblocks on 60th day of ceasefire, ignoring Israeli warnings; IDF says withdrawal delayed due to Lebanese army

If the Lebanese army deploys faster to the rest of southern Lebanon, the IDF might feel compelled to complete its withdrawal faster as well.

Eleven people were shot and killed by the Israel Defense Forces in southern Lebanon on Sunday, according to an updated statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health. Another 83 people were injured, the ministry said.

Three people were killed and 44 others injured by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese government said, as residents of villages near the border defied orders by Israel’s military not to return to their homes.

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem says the group would not tolerate any justification for delaying the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon: Israel has to withdraw because the 60 days are over.

Israel said it would keep troops in the south beyond the Sunday deadline because the Lebanese army had not yet fully deployed to ensure that Hezbollah does not reestablish its presence in the area.

The Security Cabinet will discuss whether the IDF will complete the withdrawal from Lebanese territory by Sunday, the end of the 60 days stipulated by the ceasefire agreement to do so.
