US aircraft manufacturer Textron has revealed the aircraft it intends to compete to be the US Navy’s (USN’s) new trainer jet.

Powered by two Honeywell F124-GA-200 turbofan engines, the M-346N has maximum cruise speed of more than 590 knots.

The fighter is a variant on Leonardo’s M-346 jet trainer, which has been sold to customers including Italy, Israel, Poland, Singapore and Qatar, racking up 100,000 flight hours.
