The hatched areas on the National Hurricane Center's tropical outlook map indicate "areas where a tropical cyclone — which could be a tropical depression, tropical storm or hurricane — could develop," said National Hurricane Center Deputy Director Jamie Rhome.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking two areas of interest in the eastern Atlantic for possible development.This is in addition to Hurricane Erin, which is anticipated to remain offshore of the Eastern U.

Dangerous rip currents are expected along the U.S. East Coast as Hurricane Erin grows in size this week, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday.
