Early Saturday morning, the New Orleans Saints announced quarterback Derek Carr's retirement. Carr spent 11 seasons in the NFL but a shoulder injury cut his career short at the age of 34. For the Saints, it means they must now focus their attention who is going to start at quarterback in 2025.

The Saints won't rush Shough. They have Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener, two other young QBs who have already started games in the NFL. But when Shough is ready, the Saints will count on him to take them into a new era. As of Carr's retirement, Shough is 25 years old. He'll turn 26 on September 28.
