Saul Leiter remains one of the most iconic photographers of his generation. In his passing, Leiter left behind a lasting legacy and life’s work, including some of the finest examples of street photography to have ever been produced.

The Saul Leiter Foundation begins examining and cataloging Leiter’s archive of color slides. 2019 Leiter’s paintings and personal effects are displayed in the group exhibition A Specific Eye: Seven Collections at Demisch Danant, New York.

In 2008 Leiter traveled to Paris for his first European exhibition, at the Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson. Also in 2008, Leiter had his first painting exhibition in 30 years, at Knoedler Gallery in New York.

Saul Leiter: The Poetry of colour. After World War II the centre of the arts shifted from Paris and Europe to New York and the United States which offered shelter to the artists who fled from the conflict and joined the local ones in order to start a new chapter of contemporary art.
