The organization is known by several names in English: ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Sham or Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), or simply the Islamic State. All are commonly used. Personally, I prefer Daesh since that is what they are known as in the region.

Earlier on it was ISIS as Iraq and Syria were the main countries it had control in. It then became ISIL (Iraq and thr Levant). Now they're trying to push IS, Islamic State, to make them like more of an actual state as opposed to just some controlled fragments of other countries. Use ISIS as much as possible, and not IS.
