RAF Halton hosted the first RAFAC National-level music camp for two years. Nearly 60 cadet musicians were in training for an appearance at 2026’s Birmingham International Tattoo; an appearance that will mark the Air Training Corps’ 85th anniversary. It's not all foot, rifle and sword drill at this year's annual Drill and Ceremonial Camp, there is a bit of music too. Whilst cadets and staff are queuing up for dinner, they are treated to a range of different songs. "It's really uplifting to see them all smiling and dancing after a good day's drill instruction," says Camp Commandant, Wing Commander Nicky Weston. With no RIAT, this year’s Virtual Air Tattoo gives the Air Cadets the chance to showcase their many other activities, of which learning to fly is just one.
