Just like the basic plank, the basic side plank just isn’t challenging enough for most to elicit change! First, static holds are almost always less productive than dynamic alternatives that still require stability (like this step through variation). Of course the bottom hip is the one doing the bulk of the work but there’s more to gain here than just there. Give it a try and let me know how you like it! Just remember, if you can do more than a side plank - do more. Otherwise you’re just playing
