A high-tech Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS), Skydio X10, recently acquired by Royal New Zealand Air Force Base Ohakea can be used for surveillance, building and aircraft inspections and emergency situations, marking a shift in capability for the base. Operations Squadron are now planning for the Skydio X10 to be used across Security Forces, Aviation Rescue Fire Flight and airfield management. WATCH🎬 The Royal New Zealand Air Force was called in to help the Department of Conservation with efforts to upgrade the trapping network in remote areas of Kaweka Forest Park in Hawke’s Bay. The North Island brown kiwi is seriously endangered in the park, and parts of the trapping network, established in 2008, were past their best.
