Yangtse Incident: The Story of H.M.S. Amethyst (1957): One of the greatest post war films was made about an incident that took place between the British and People's Liberation Army of China during the Chinese Revolution 1949. On 20 April 1949, HMS Amethyst was on her way from Shanghai to Nanking (now Nanjing) when she was fired upon by the People's Liberation Army, thus starting the Amethyst Incident. Despite efforts to free her by the Royal Navy, Amethyst was trapped on the Yangtse River in Ch
