Why is it that some of the best food is always in the most unassuming places? I was lucky to try this place and was blown away by what we ate. It’s an artisinal Korean izakaya spot that had TO DIE FOR dishes. We got their house Gupji salad, tuna wasabi, sweet potato croquette, karaage, okonomiyaki, flying fish roe rice, pan fried oysters, Grilled & spicy Pork Belly and ended with their special which was steak. Xing Fu Tang hand makes their tapioca and then freshly cooks their boba hourly so you’re never getting 4-8 hour old boba. 🥰 I love their tea and their tapioca and it’s always a treat! Pro tip: since these days my sugar tolerance is a lot less than my younger years, I generally opt for no sugar since the tapioca is already cooked and coated with sweet brown sugar. This is definitely a hidden gem in Flushing- because, it’s pretty hard to find tucked inside a hotel - but also the food is FANTASTIC and its modern Fuzhounese food- which is a first for me! We went there with a large party, so we had this enormous private room with the biggest lazy Susan I’ve ever seen in my life and it moves electronically. At Gahwa they have their broths boiling at all times. You get your broth (it comes with pieces of beef) within minutes and you just add some salt and scallions to taste and enjoy!
